ABC is ready to dive back into The Toy Box.

The reality competition series, hosted by Eric Stonestreet, has been renewed for a second season.

ABC announced the pickup late Thursday, noting that production on the new episodes is already underway.

The Toy Box sees amateur toy inventors compete to have their idea made. However, they first must get the approval from a team of kid judges (after first being approved by several adult judges). The series is produced in partnership with toy giant Mattel, which will make and distribute the winning toy from season one (liquid 3-D art) at Toys R Us stores nationwide following the season finale.

The series was co-developed with Hudsun Media and Electus, with the latter handling international distribution. Its unclear when the series, which ran for an eight-episode first season, will return.

The Toy Box joins a growing stable of unscripted hits at the network, which is getting to revive reality behemoth American Idol in 2018. ABC's alternative lineup also includes game shows such as To Tell the Truth, Celebrity Family Feud, $100,000 Pyramid and the recently premiered Steve Harvey's Funderdome.

The network also boasts several long-running unscripted franchises, including Dancing With the Stars, which will spin off a kid-centered version next season, and The Bachelor, which is currently engulfed in scandal.

Next week, ABC will unveil two more alternative entries with the singing competition Boy Band a reboot of Battle of the Network Stars.
